What's Highking App?
Highking is a dedicated platform to bridge the gap between novice hikers and the great outdoors. It provides a seamless and user-friendly ecosystem for finding trekking packages, booking professional guides, and managing hiking itineraries, prioritizing safety and convenience for enthusiasts planning to conquer mountains.
Situation: Novice hikers often struggle with planning a mountain trek due to fragmented information, lack of reliable booking channels for guides, and overwhelming logistics. Relying on disorganized social media groups or word-of-mouth creates safety risks and ruins the hiking experience. There is a strong need for an integrated platform that simplifies the process from discovery to summiting, ensuring a safe and well-guided journey.
Task & Action: We adopted an end-to-end approach—from understanding the business mechanics of mountain trekking to finalizing a highly intuitive user interface tailored for seamless bookings.
First, we mapped out the overarching business logic for the booking platform. This ensured that every stakeholder—from the hikers to the guides and administrative staff—was accounted for in the primary transaction loop.
An optimized onboarding experience is key. We detailed the user flowchart specifically for authentication and registration to minimize drop-offs and get users to their booking dashboard quickly.
We translated our logic into low-fidelity wireframes, structuring layout hierarchies and focusing on usability before introducing visual flair.
The culmination was a high-fidelity prototype with polished typography, engaging visuals, and robust mobile development logic. The result is an application built to serve real adventurers effectively.

Leading a cross-functional team in developing Highking reinforced the importance of closely matching the user journey with a sound business model. Simplifying a complex booking system for a niche market—like novice hikers looking for guides—taught me that straightforward navigation and clear communication in design are not just aesthetic choices, but operational necessities for safety and satisfaction.
